Class Prep & Studio Policies: Everything You Need to Know!
To ensure a safe, focused, and fun experience for all of our aerialists, please take a moment to review our studio guidelines before your first day:
What to Wear: To prevent fabric burns and ensure safety, students must wear a leotard and long leggings. (Exception can be made, please message.) If you don't have these for your first class, don't worry—we know it takes time to shop!. Please avoid t-shirts, as they can get tangled in the silks during complex movements, as well as tank tops, sports bras, or exposed midriffs. Looking for the perfect gear? High-quality, branded Silk & Circus leotards, leggings, and hoodies are available to purchase on our Merchandise Page. Shoes are not allowed in the studio and children can wear socks or bare feet.
Hair: Long hair must be tied back securely before class starts. Tight ponytails, braids, or buns are highly recommended to keep hair safely clear of the apparatuses.
Snacks & Hydration: To keep our studio clean and safe, eating is not permitted inside the studio (except for medical reasons, such as diabetes). Please make sure your child has a snack before arriving, and send them with a full water bottle and warm layers to wear before and after class.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedure: To help our young aerialists stay focused and keep our lobby comfortable, we use a parent drop-off policy. Feel free to wave goodbye at the Silk & Circus Lobby door, and our team will take it from there! For pick-up, please arrive 5 minutes before class finishes.
Equipment usage: students are also not allowed on the equipment prior to classes commencing or afterward class is over.
End of year Show
At the end of each year we produce an 'End of the year Show!' for our students which is then presented and performed for friends and family. During Term 4 students (Mini Cirque and Young Flyers will do an in class presentation if appropriate) develop and practice a routine that incorporates skills they have learnt throughout the year. This is a truly amazing experience for many of the students as it allows them to show off their hard work and hone their performance skills and stage presence. Student must have done a minimum of 1 year of aerials to participate in the show.
