Silk & Circus is an Aerial Arts & Circus studio right in the heart of the Red Oaks Drive, Frankton activities area.

We offer Silks, Lyra, Trapeze & Hammock classes. We are passionate about what we do and love being involved in the wider arts community, you can catch us performing at various events throughout the year. Our studio caters to all backgrounds and levels, from beginner to advanced aerialists. We have weekly classes for adults and intro courses and term classes for children age 6 - 15.

Silk & Circus is a vibrant, positive and welcoming studio where we share our love of Aerial Arts & Circus and help students grow both as individuals and aerialists.

    Lara

    FOUNDER/INSTRUCTOR

    Lara is the founder of Silk & Circus, she is a certified Aerials instructor through the world renown Aerial Physique Training Program. Lara is also a certified sport coach, Acrobatic Arts and Pilates Instructor. Originally from Canada, Lara has a background in classical music having played the cello since the age of 4, and having taught music for over 10 years, Lara is an experienced educator. Her classes are goal oriented, encouraging creativity, confidence and artistry. With her background in music, good technique and attention to details are very important as well as providing a supportive, welcoming and lively environment where student can thrive and grow as individual.

    Suzanne

    INSTRUCTOR

    Suzanne discovered aerial fitness in 2015 and quickly fell in love with the silks. When she is not playing mum to her two children she will be found flying high and dancing in the air. During the day Suzanne was a home based educator for pre-schoolers for many years, she is a very experienced educator and love to share her passion with little ones! Suzanne's circus classes are based around encouraging creativity, building strength, confidence and having lot's of fun.

    Rosanne

    INSTRUCTOR

    Rosanne found aerials the perfect compliment to her training with it’s mix of strength, flexibility, coordination and grace. Being a Mum to two mini aerialist, Rosanne has seen first hand the physical and mental learning benefits aerials provides young children. Rosanne finds it really exciting helping the student’s learn new moves, conquer fears and achieve goals. She joined the Silk & Circus team in 2021, she also love being part of the end of year show design team, with her background in graphic design and photography!

    Bethany

    INSTRUCTOR

    Bethany is an ice swimmer and ultra runner who came to aerials looking for a complementary way to keep fit and flexible. After dalliances with silks, she became obsessed with aerial lyra (hoop) so that’s where you’ll usually find her hanging out. She loves the mixture of strength, flexibility and creativity that aerials enables and is excited to share that with students. Her focus is on making sure students have fun and feel confident – because she believes that’s how they’ll best progress.

    Aaron

    INSTRUCTOR & RIGGER

    Aaron has been an avid juggler for over 20 years and was involved in circus street performance in Berlin, Germany in the early 2010’s. In the mid 2000’s he was at the forefront of the NZ parkour scene and has numerous years experience teaching sports and movement to young adults. Through his work in emergency medicine in Northern Canada he has trained and specialized in ropework, rigging and height rescue. Aarons favorite apparatus is trapeze but also teaches Lyra and Silks.
