Apparatus

  • Aerial Silks

Aerial silks (also known as aerial contortion, aerial ribbons, aerial tissues, fabric, ribbon, or tissu) is a type of performance in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a specialist fabric. The fabric is hung as two pieces. Performers climb the suspended fabric and use the fabric to wrap, suspend, drop, swing, and spiral their bodies into and out of various positions.

  • Lyra

The aerial hoop (also known as the lyra, aerial ring or cerceau/cerceaux) is an elegant circular steel apparatus (resembling a hula hoop) suspended from the ceiling, on which a performer can spin, swing, transition, and pose, demonstrating skills of great flexibility, strength, and grace. It can be used static, preferable for beginners and used while spinning.

  • Trapeze

A trapeze is a short horizontal bar hung by soft ropes. It is an aerial apparatus commonly found in circus performances. Trapeze acts may be static, spinning (rigged from a single point), swinging or flying, and may be performed solo, double, triple or as a group act. It is often compared to being a mixed of Aerial Silks and Lyra due to the similarity of some of the moves performed on ropes and on the bar.

  • Aerial Hammock

Aerial hammock (Sling) is a long piece of fabric folded in half, hanging from the ceiling, forming a swing where a performer can do a number of poses and drops. The performer can use techniques similar to trapeze and If you climbs on it, you can also perform tricks similar to Aerial silks. Aerial Sling can be static or spinning. Aerial Hammock is also great for improving flexibility and strength as it requires less upper body strength to start with.
